Management Approach

We are bottom up stock pickers, searching for secular growth opportunities that are reasonably priced.

The team is structured as a matrix. Sector expertise is overlaid with geographic experience insuring the rigor of our process and bringing the best ideas to the fore. The focus of our approach is on assembling a portfolio of holdings focused on high quality businesses. Quality is defined as:

1. High or improving returns on invested capital

2. Disciplined capital management

3. Solid balance sheet

4. Superior management

5. Faster growing or more profitable end markets

In defining our investment universe around these 5 points, our portfolio holdings are generally more profitable, less levered, faster growing and with either superior reinvestment options or a strong discipline of returning capital to shareholders. The combination of these attractive features provides the portfolio with a margin of safety against adverse economic and business specific events while maintaining the potential for superior long run returns.

Natcan’s Global Equity team is comprised of sector and regional specialists. Led by Lambros Piscopos, the team is further comprised of Markus Köbler, Justin Amero, Michael Scala, Karl Pereira, and Usman Chohan.
